Call For Manuscripts

 

The African Economic and Business Review (AEBR) is an online journal devoted to the publication of high-quality theoretical and empirical articles on all aspects of economics and business. Articles published in the African Economic and Business Review are open access articles, effectively removing the barriers for timely distribution of the articles and ensures that they can be read by as many people as possible. Articles are invited from all areas of business and economics. Articles submitted to the African Economic and Business Review are refereed through a double-blind process. Formatting

 

The journal uses APA style for citation, referencing, headings, and tables. Examples of APA style can be found at

The Manuscript Review Process

 

Criteria

 

The primary criteria used when reviewing contributions for the AEBR are the quality of the paper and its potential value to educators, business professionals, and administrators. For research papers, quality includes the quality of the literature review, significance of the research question, thoroughness and appropriateness of the methodology, clarity of the results, and whether the conclusions and implications are supported by the data. Every research paper must have at the minimum, an abstract, introduction and literature review, data description, methodology, result, and conclusion.

 

Reviewers

 

If a manuscript does not address the focus of the AEBR, it is returned to the author without review and, where possible, with suggestions for where it might be better submitted. Each manuscript is typically forwarded to 2 reviewers, each of whom has expressed an interest and expertise in the area. The journal uses a blind review process. Feedback aimed at enhancing the work of authors would be provided.

 

Feedback to authors

 

Feedback should be critically constructive and creative, helping authors to further develop and improve their ideas and/or writing and to share their work via publication. The author receives one of the following responses, together with supporting commentary, from managing editor: Publish, Publish with Minor Changes, Publish After Major Revision, or Not Recommended for Publication in Present Form.

 

Revision and editing of manuscripts

 

When revising a manuscript, the author is asked to provide a commentary as to how he or she has responded to the reviewer suggestions. The author is invited to accept only those suggestions with which he or she agrees, and to provide a rationale for ignoring specific suggestions for change. More than one revision, in consultation with the editor, may be required.

 

Submission Guidelines

 

  • All articles submitted to the AEBR for review should be written in Microsoft Word and should follow the APA writing style. Manuscripts should be submitted as electronic files to AEBR@theaebri.com. Manuscripts received shall be evaluated by the editor for suitability for this journal before being sent to the reviewers for review. If a manuscript is considered not to be suitable for the journal, the editor will inform the author(s) and, if possible, suggestion will be made to the authors of alternative journals to submit their manuscript to. The final decision to accept a manuscript lies with the editors of this journal. Authors with additional questions about the submission process should communicate with the editor through the same email address.

  • Manuscripts should not exceed 20 pages. Longer manuscripts will be considered only in exceptional circumstances.

  • Manuscripts should be original works and must not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration by the AEBR.

  • Articles will be forwarded to two external reviewers for peer review and recommendation for publication.

  • Endnotes (not footnotes) should be used. Endnotes should be kept to a minimum, and lengthy notes are strongly discouraged.

  • An abstract not to exceed 250 words should be included, as well as a list of keywords.

  • All references to the authors or their affiliations should be removed from the body of the article and placed on a separate cover sheet.

  • All diagrams and tables should be done in word, excel, or must be camera-ready images.

This is in accordance with our commitment to the prevention of ethical misconduct. It is important to note that most incidents of plagiarism, redundant publication, copyright infringement or similar occur because of a lack of understanding, and not through fraudulent intent.

Author Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure that all manuscripts submitted are their original work, and that any sources used are fully referenced.

  • Avoid any action that could compromise the originality of the manuscript. In cases where these exist, they should be brought to the attention of the editor at the onset.

  • Disclose any conflict of interest including funding sources if applicable.

  • Fully correspond and comply with the editor in any requests for source data, proof of authorship or originality in a timely manner.

  • Expect transparency, efficiency, and respect from the editor during the submissions process.

  • List as authors, only individuals who made significant contributions in writing the manuscript, including review of literature, research design, data collection, analysis, and discussion.

  • Identify a designated corresponding author with appropriate contact information. This corresponding author shall be the main contact individual for all correspondences regarding the manuscript.

  • Cooperate fully with the publication of errata and retraction of articles found to be unethical, misleading, or damaging.

 

Editor Responsibilities

 

  • Read and understand the African Economic and Business Review ethics policy, and strictly comply with them during the editorial processes.

  • Publish articles of the high quality and relevance in a timely and responsible manner.

  • Conduct a thorough, objective, fair and confidential peer review of manuscripts submitted, consistent with the journal’s ethics policy.

  • Provide a transparent review and publication process with full respect and care paid to the author(s).

  • Provide advice and give reasonable explanation and updates to authors during the submissions process and once a decision has been made.

  • Only accept papers based on the original merit, quality, and relevance of their content

  • Publish corrections and errata, when necessary, and retract articles that deem unethical, misleading, or damaging by the editors of the journal as soon as possible.

 

Reviewers Responsibilities

 

  • Strictly follow the African Economic and Business Review's policy of confidential peer review.

  • Only accept invitations to review work that is relevant to their own expertise and specialty, and review manuscripts in a responsible, impartial, and timely manner.

  • Report any suspected unethical conduct as part of a thorough and fair review of the manuscript.

  • Investigate thoroughly any suspicion of unethical conduct, including plagiarism, fabrication, or misuse of data.

  • Treat all authors with respect and utmost professionalism throughout the review process.

  • Protect the reputation of the journal and published article by only approving manuscripts of high quality and relevance in a timely manner.

  • When necessary, request proof of originality/accuracy from the corresponding author of any manuscript submitted for review.

  • Use a plagiarism detection software when necessary to check for originality of the manuscript at any stage of the submissions and publication process.

  • Publish errata, make corrections, and retract articles that are deemed to be unethical or misleading in a timely fashion, detailing the decision online in an open access format as soon as possible.

 

Copyright Policy

 

The authors of articles published in the African Economic and Business Review shall retain copyright for all their articles published in the journal, with first publication rights granted to the Global Journal of Business and Economic Studies. The authors of manuscript submitted to the African Economic and Business Review guarantee that the manuscript has not been previously published or submitted for consideration for publication anywhere else. The authors also attest that the submission of this manuscript was approved by all authors and that, if accepted, the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in the same form. The Editors reserve the right to edit or format the manuscript, however in all cases the authors will receive proofs for approval before publication.

 

Open Access Policy

 

The African Economic and Business Review is an open-access journal. All articles published in the journal are freely available without charge to the user. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author if they are properly referenced.

 

Correction/Retraction Policy

 

The author is responsible for informing the editor of any corrections to a published article as soon as possible. The editor may authorize corrections to a published article if, in the opinion of the editor, the correction is necessary. Minor corrections are made directly to the original article. If a major correction is required, corrected article will be published and linked to the original article. A statement indicating the reason for the major correction will be published. When necessary, articles with major corrections will be done in line with COPE retraction guidelines if there is clear evidence that the findings may be unreliable, either because of an honest mistake or misconduct. Archiving Policy

 

All active and retired articles are self-archived on the African Economic and Business Review website. Links to all published manuscripts are accessible through the website.
